Racor 500FG Diesel Fuel Filter
The Parker Racor 500FG Turbine Fuel Filter offers protection for engines with a maximum fuel flow rate of 227 l/hr. It features the Aquabloc® filter media, a unique engineered product that incorporates pleat-spacing corrugations as well as a graduated pore structure to increase the dirt holding capacity and extend filter life.
Aquabloc® is specially treated to separate and coalesce water away from fuel, causing it to gather into large water droplets which then falls into the collection bowl for extraction.
Racor Aquabloc® elements come in three different lengths for various flow rates. The elements are colour coded as the following:
- “2” micron brown.
- “10” micron blue.
- “30” micron red.
The lower the micron rating the finer the filtration. “2” micron elements are required when there are no additional downstream filters. Ultimately, the micron rating preferred will be a function of fuel quality, operating climates and maintenance schedules.
The Turbine Series is suitable for a wide range of maximum fuel flow rates. From 227 lph (50 gph) with a single Racor 500FG and up to 2044 lph (450 gph) with the 77 and 791000 series triple-manifold units. Applications may include:
- Containerised generator sets.
- Excavators.
- Transporters.
How the Racor Turbine 500FG Series works
The Racor Turbine Series fuel filters protect engines through a patented three-stage process:
- SEPARATION. The turbine centrifuge separates solids and “free” water through centrifugal action. Over 30% of contaminants are removed at this point, despite the fact there are no moving parts in the turbine series.
- COALESCING. Smaller water droplets and solids coalesce on the specially designed conical baffle and fall to the collection bowl.
- FILTRATION. Engines benefit from nearly 100% water separation and fuel filtration with Racor proprietary Aquabloc water repelling media. (The filter media is available in a choice of 2, 10 or 30 microns.)
Changing filters by hand is a simple task. This is done by simply unscrewing the ‘T’ handle (by hand), then removing the element using the handle. Then replace the element. The Turbine Series are available with a see-through bowl, which will not discolour from contact with alcohol or UV light. Metal bowls are also available for hazardous locations.
