Power Generation
Whether you use a generator for prime or standby power, you need it to be reliable. However, a number of factors can cause your engines to suffer damage or completely stop. IPU has a range of products that can help improve your engines reliability to ensure you always have easy access to power:
Diesel powered gensets are often used to provide prime or standby power for:
- Banks.
- Hospitals.
- Data-centres.
- Telecoms centres.
- Airports.
- Railway terminals.
- Military sites.
- Building sites.
- Remote holiday sites.
- Off grid communities.
However the reliability and dependability of your remote power source could be affected by:
- Cold temperatures – cold temperatures could cause your generator to start slowly, affecting it’s ability to carry the full load. Hotstart engine heaters pre-heat your engines, making them easier and quicker to start, delivering full power quickly and reducing engine wear, environmental emissions and fuel consumption.
- Availability of diesel – a regular supply of diesel may not always be available. IPU has a range of products that can help you move to hybrid power generation, reducing your reliance on the fuel.
- Having clean fuel – under normal storage conditions diesel fuel can be expected to stay in a usable condition for 6-12 months. After which it begins to suffer from contamination from three main sources: water, microbial growth and solid particulates. This can block fuel filters, damage fuel injectors and cause complete engine failure. IPU has a range of solutions that can remove fuel contamination and keep your diesel at EN 590 specifications.
- Having good lubrication – according to Noria (the industry body that promotes better lubrication practises), 80% of engine failures can be attributed to contaminated oils. IPU has real-time monitoring packages and bypass filters that can give a voice to your oil and extend it’s life by up to four times.
