ADV Predator diesel fuel biocide

Contaminated fuel deliveries regularly cause a spike in microbial activity. ADV Predator kills the activity before it blocks a polishing unit’s filters and without needing a ClearTank call-out.

ADV Predator is a diesel fuel biocide that can be used as a shock treatment to protect against bacteria, yeast and moulds. It is completely soluble in petroleum fuels (including biofuels) and partially soluble in water, allowing it to target the bacteria in both the diesel and water phases.

ADV Predator is an oil based soluble that can access the entire storage tank (including walls, floating roof etc) to provide an efficient and thorough treatment. This is a distinct advantage over water based biocides which only treat the tank bottom. ADV predator targets the microbes present in free, dissolved and emulsified water.

ADV Predator also provides a period of protection as it remains in the fuel tank, even when water bottoms are drained out.

 

Dosing Rates

To treat heavily contaminated fuel, 200 to 1000ppm of ADV Predator should be used. This should be followed by a continued preventative treatment rate which is recommended at 100 to 250ppm. The table below is a guide:

Why use a Diesel Fuel Biocide?

All fuels and fuel systems contain some water which can support microbial life forms.

If uncontrolled these microbes can cause quality, performance and distribution problems. Specifically these microbes can:

  • Reduce fuel quality and performance.
  • Reduce the effectiveness of any fuel additives present.
  • Produce corrosive acids, causing damage to storage, distribution and vehicle fuel systems.
  • Produce slime and sediments which can block fuel lines, filters and vehicle injection equipment.

Through use of ADV Predator, these microbes can be eliminated and prevented. This can result in reduced maintenance of fuel storage and distribution systems and help to maintain vehicle fuel consumption and drivability.

Suitable for diesel (including bio-diesel blends), FAME, Gas Oil and Residual Fuel Oils it can be used at a standard dose rate as part of a fuel quality management programme.

ADV Predator can be used at a standard dose rate as part of an ongoing housekeeping schedule to prevent microbial contamination, or at an increased dose rate in order to kill-off an existing microbial colony.
