GAC’s ALR electronic actuators are an integral part of an electronically governed system. They are designed to receive instructed signals from the magnetic pickup and compare those to desired signals, alternating the speed as appropriate.

GAC’s ALR electronic actuators are constructed to a high quality military standard, and are suitable for high temperature operation. Not only that, but they’re built with linear ball bearings instead of plastic bushes, meaning they’re a lot less likely to wear.

The lifetime of the GAC ALR Series actuators is 20 million cycles – making them perfect for variable speed control.

Why should I switch to electronic governing?

There are many other benefits in making the switch from mechanical governing to electronic. With electronic governing:

  • Gensets and engines can maintain a constant frequency whatever the load. Sensitive electronic equipment is protected against damaging fluctuations such as droop or overshoot. This is especially important in IT and healthcare.
  • Engines respond faster to load changes – as much as 200 times faster than engines with mechanical governing.
  • You improve your fuel economy because an electronic governor accurately sets the engine’s throttle to match the load. This means if you need 50% power it will open the throttle to 50%. Mechanical throttles are either open or closed – there is no in-between.That reduces your bills and your environmental footprint and makes electronic governing ideal for non-genset applications.
  • You avoid the massive disruption of installing a new engine from scratch – the upgrade is simple and quick.

Upgrading from mechanical governing to electronic governing is simple and quick so is ideal for retrofitting. The actuator takes less than 5 minutes to install as there are no complicated linkages.
