IPU Hydraulic Start Systems provide guaranteed reliability, no matter how challenging or unpredictable the environment. This truly independent start method can be specified as the only starting system or as a back up to electric or air starting, offering an unbeatable level of efficiency in sub-zero temperatures and hazardous settings, including areas with ATEX requirements.

IPU’s hydraulic starting systems can be supplied complete and ready to connect

Manufactured from cast iron, hydraulic starter motors combine quick acceleration with high torque output, for guaranteed starting in extreme temperatures, after long shut down periods, damp and hostile conditions and can be supplied with Beryllium Copper pinions eliminating potential sparks.

Hydraulic Starting Systems come with a hand pump for manual charging and foot start valve as standard. Systems can be equipped with electric motor and/or engine driven recharge pumps and solenoid valves for remote or auto start options.

New ATEX Approved M22 Hydraulic Starter Motor

IPU Starting Division now supplies a pre-engaged hydraulic starter motor for use with our hydraulic starting packages. Specially designed for starting engines in potentially explosive atmospheres and critical offshore oil and gas applications the starter meets the requirements of EN1834-1 and has been certified against the requirements of ATEX Directive 94/9/EC.

M22 Hydraulic starter motors are available for a wide variety of engine makes and types with flange and pinion options to suit pretty much any diesel engine application.

  • The M10 hydraulic starter motor is the smallest starter motor in the range. Suitable for engines with up to 3 litres capacity it can produce a maximum torque of 30Nm at 3000 psi (207bar). The M10 is made from cast iron (including the flange and pinion housing) which makes it resistant to rust and corrosion.
