Celebrating International Women’s Day at IPU

March 11th, 2022 in Components, Emissions Solutions, Engine Starting, Fuel Conditioning, News

IPU is celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. IPU has a growing female workforce and has some advice for females considering a career in engineering. Findings published by theย Womenโ€™s Engineering Society in 2021 states that women make up 21.80% of the workforce in the engineering sector in the UK. This is still far from where we need to be as an industry. IPU works hard to support gender diversity and equality. The company operates an equal pay policy, which is based on job role and not the gender of the job holder. This is proven in the fact that IPU’s Management Team is almost a 50/50 split, with 5 men and 4 women. As part of IPUโ€™s celebration of…

IPU’s AtmoShield system dramatically reduces emissions on-site

February 28th, 2022 in Components, Emissions Solutions, Engine Starting, Fuel Conditioning, News

As one of the countyโ€™s largest employers, James Hall wanted to enhance its role in the local community by reducing emissions years before regulatory limits came into force. James Hall took the decision to meet the new limits long before that deadline came into effect. As one of the countyโ€™s largest employers, it takes pride in its position as a good corporate citizen. The company had four goals: bring NOx emissions down from 1,300ppm to well below the limits set by legislation reduce the NOx emissions long before the legislation comes into effect, tackle emissions such as black smoke that may not be covered by legislation, and be ready for any future emissions legislation. Like…

Can you still use Red Diesel after April 2022?

February 21st, 2022 in Fuel Conditioning, News

Are you still able to use Red Diesel after April 2022?   April, 1st 2022 The countdown is on!   With a change to the Red Diesel Rebate Entitlement in April 2022, changes are coming to who can legally use Red Diesel. Soon it will be illegal for some industries to actively buy and use Red Diesel. It will also be illegal for R.D.C.Os to supply Red Diesel to industries that aren’t legally able to use it. We are actively involved with the HMRC consultation process, so we are best placed to guide you through this change. Building on our hugely popular series of webinars, there are further updates to the Red Diesel Rebate that are important to cover before the April 2022 deadline.…

The story of how IPU saved Christmas…

December 16th, 2021 in Components, Emissions Solutions, Engine Starting, Fuel Conditioning, News

Everyone at IPU hopes that Santa brings you all the presents you want on Christmas morning. We know he’ll be out on his sleigh through the wee, small hours delivering presents all around the world. If it hadnโ€™t been for IPU, it might have been very differentโ€ฆ Shoddy maintenance by his elves (always downing tools and moaning about elf & safety – sorry), meant that his facilities at the North Pole were falling apart. This is when IPU stepped in: The Fuel Conditioning team installed a polishing unit to stop cold diesel clogging the sleighโ€™s engine (the reindeer quit in 2010, complaining that Christmas was only meant to be twelve days long). The Engine Starting team fitted…

Charity Challenge: 66 miles in 33 hours

October 22nd, 2021 in Components, Emissions Solutions, Engine Starting, Fuel Conditioning, News

Our very own Tristan Philpotts (Fuel and Environmental Manager) and Jacob Briley (Service Engineer) are attempting to walk 66 miles in just 33 hours in aid of Cancer Research. Doing loops in the Peak District over the first weekend of December, they’re doing this challenge for a very special reason. Here’s what Tristan and Jacob had to say:   Where did the idea for the challenge come from? [Tristan] It all started as a random thought in my head. Encourage by Jacob, we wanted a challenge that would push us both mentally and physically. By doing large loops, always crossing past a camp site, we wanted to encourage as many people as possible from IPU to join in. Anyone…
