Diesel naturally contains paraffin wax, which helps improve viscosity, but in cold conditions this wax can become problematic. As temperatures fall, the paraffin turns cloudy (the cloud point), thickens, and begins to form wax crystals. If the temperature drops further, these crystals clump together into a gel-like substance that restricts fuel flow. Left unchecked, the wax can eventually solidify completely, stopping the fuel from flowing altogether. Preventing this issue is far more efficient than trying to fix it once it occurs – making reliable heating an essential safeguard for diesel storage.
